The Sow's Ear Way
Welcome to A Sow's Ear, a place where all things are subject to the Sow's Ear treatment...and nothing is junk until we say so. Here we take the concept of "One woman's trash is another woman's treasure" to the highest of all possible levels.
We take found, recovered and discovered objects, combine them with some new materials, add a healthy dollop of "the sow's ear way" and stir until we come up with something completely new and surprising...and hopefully pleasing.
Visit some of the menu links and explore the site where we will show you a few of the items we have made both for our own amusement and for sale in the past as well as a few items for which we can take custom orders.
Bear in mind that many of the materials I use are found, usually broken or discarded by their previous owners who just don't see their potential. So while I can repeat a theme, all the pieces are indeed one-of-a-kind.
Marylou's Art On Display In New Spot
The retail venue in Apalachicola where Marylou has been displaying and selling her work has moved to a new spot. "Handmade In Apalach", a shop dedicated to hand made art and crafts produced by artists living in the Apalachicola area has moved to the former location of River City Trading Company on Commerce Street in Apalachicola.
This move is only a matter of a couple of blocks but it will put Marylou's artwork, and all the works of all the talented artists whose work is displayed and sold by "Handmade In Apalach" in a much more heavily trafficked and central location in town. The shop is right next door to the beautiful and popular "Riverlily" and across the street from the lovely back courtyard of The Grady Building.
Stop by, if you are in Apalachicola, and say hello to Marylou while perusing the wide selection of talented artist's works available at this shop. If you are not in Apalachicola, maybe it is time for a visit?
